We hope that you and your family are staying healthy and doing well during these difficult times. Since Professor Sebastian Hsien-hao Liao assumed deanship of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences of National Taiwan University, we have not only built on the heritage of this institute but re-oriented it toward broader interdisciplinary dialogues by involving also science and technology without, however, changing our firm anchoring in the endeavor to update and re-invent humanistic values. This re-orientation we believe coheres with the leading intellectual advances in our time and will yield results that can benefit humanity, especially in terms of helping ameliorate the most urgent problems of our time. In the coming years, with our hearts resonating with the same compassion for the world, we believe our solid and cordial relationship will be ever more mutually beneficial and abundantly productive. Please stay safe and we wish you all the best. |
